Biography

Ramona Garcia is a paper-mache and visual artist whose work is inspired by her cultural upbringing and Mexican healing traditions, particularly folk art & paper mache doll-making from her native community of Guanajuato. Her current practice focuses on the craft of creating such dolls with the purpose of facilitating workshops as a form of art therapy. 

 

She graduated from the Art Department at the University of California, Berkeley in 2012 andcurrently resides in Sacramento, California where she shares her passion for this art at cultural community centers and universities across the country. Her mission is to honor these traditions by raising awareness about artisan work, cultural revitalization and bridging together traditional artmaking with practices of art therapy.
